Piazzale Michelangelo: A Great Marvel

Piazzale Michelangelo, which is, definitely, one of the most famed attractions, is located in the beautiful city of Florence.  In 1871, this piazzale was constructed by Giuseppe Poggi in honor to Michelangelo Buonarroti, who is, in conjunction with Leonardo, the greatest artist during the period of the Renaissance.  It was intended to construct it with copies of some works belonging to Michelangelo, encompassing David and sculptures of the Medici chapel from San Lorenzo.  Poggi’s terrace dates from the 19th century. Michelangelo was an incredible multifaceted man since he was sculptor, architect, painter and poet.  In this way, since he was such a revolutionary there, they built this amazing attraction, quite rightly!

You can find the Piazzle Michelangeloon Monte alle Croci.  It is really recommended to get there by foot since, in this way, you are able to admire in a better way the magnificent route that was created around  135 years ago, when Florence constituted the capital of the Kingdom of Italy.  This walk up begins in Porta a San Niccolò (Piazza Poggi).  The Piazzela Michelangelo is a terrace that allows the enormous amounts of visitors to have a superior panoramic view of the Arno Valley and Florence in general.  These days, what Poggi designated as the hillside is where you can find a marvelous restaurant acting as a museum for the out-of-this-world works of Michelangelo.  The exhilarating view you have from there includes the Forte Belvedere to Santa Croce, the Duomo, Palazzo della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi and the Bargello.  Thus, if you are planning to go to a place in which you can see Florence at a glance, then, the place for you is Piazzale Michelangelo.  Ah, do not forget to carry your camera!
