Bologna is an important city acting as the capital city of Emilia-Romagna, situated in the northern part of Italy. It is located in the middle of Apennines and the Po River. Bologna has received several nicknames over the time. For instance, it has been called “Bologna the learned”, “Bologna the fat”, “Bologna the red” and “Bologna de basket city” for its university, cuisine, richness in red brick and marble buildings and passion of the basketball sport respectively. As the obsession with basketball is unusual and different in Italy, a country dominated by football, Bologna is unique with own traits as well. It is estimated that only 5.7% of its population is made up of immigrants, and the rest of it, is constituted by Italian people.
One particular feature for which Bologna is recognized worldwide lies in the fact that this city relies on a special culinary traditions. In this sense, some local specialties you should not miss include tortellini in broth and mortadella, crescentine, tagliatelle al ragù, which are simple exquisite, similar to its wine. In addition, tourists argue loving this special city since it is considered as a kept-secret in which you really feel to be in Italy. Bologna’s core is found around some great attractions that definitely portray the great architecture they rely on. They may include the twin piazzas: Nettuno and Maggiore, which are surrounded by San Petronio’s hulk and the medieval palazzi. It is very common for people to come here to pray, demonstrate, shop and chat.
The climate of Bologna, in general, is moderate in autumn and spring. This is believed to be the best time of the year to visit Bologna since, at the height of the season, several tourists go there in impressive amounts. But once there, there are some attractions you should not miss such as the Basilica of St. Petronius, the Fountain of Neptune, Basilica of St. Sthephen, National Gallery, The Archiginnasio, San Domenico and the Jewish Museum, among several others.
