Genoa: A Different Destination

Genoa, which is the capital of the Genoa Province and of the Liguria region, acts not only as a beautiful city, but also as a seaport in northern Italy.  This port, the first in the entire Italy and the second in the Mediterranean, comprises the oldest working lighthouse worldwide.  It is home for an approximate of a 700,000 population.  Almost all of this population is Italian; however, some immigrants are getting there, especially from Asia, Eastern Europe and South America.  This provides this city with even more cultural richness in spite of the fact that it is worth it to say it does not need it since it is an amazing destination by itself.

Genoa, the place where Christopher Columbus was born, is famous due to the fact that it encompasses very famous museums, good restaurants and ancient Renaissance buildings.  Regarding museums, the Museo d’Arte Orientale, perhaps, boasts the biggest oriental art collection in the whole Europe.  In fact, it is interesting that this city makes food shops available everywhere.

Besides the Genoese dialect, there are several other really interesting attractions you may want to know.  Among these, you have the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, which constitutes a complete marvel with medieval churches, including the Santa Maria di Castello and San Donato.  Also, you should seek out the Renaissance palazzi that offers you furniture and, in general, art dating to the illustrious time.  If you are planning to travel to Genoa, you can make sure that you will be absolutely fascinated with all the out-of-this-world features it has for you to make your trip the most unforgettable ever.
