Villafranca di Verona
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Villafranca di Verona is a town in the province of Verona in the Veneto, Northern Italy. Villafranca is the principal town of the Villafranca di Verona comune. It has a population of 20,000 inhabitants. Other towns in Villafranca di Verona comune include Dossobuono, Quaderni, Rosegaferro, Alpo, Rizza, Pizzoletta and Pozzomoretto. Villafranca di Verona belongs to the province of Verona and is 19 kilometers far from Verona, that is the chief town of the homonymous province. Villafranca di Verona has a population of 29.353 inhabitants and a surface of 57,4 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 511,38 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 54 metres above the sea level. The municipality of Villafranca di Verona had a popolation of 27.036 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 29.353 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 to 2001 a percentual variation of 8.57 percent inhabitants. The inhabitants are distributed in 10.412 families with an average of 2.82 people per family. The territory of the municipality lies between 39 and 83 metres above sea level. The altimetric spawn is thus of 44 metres. Villafranca is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times.
