Thiene
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Inhabitants of Italy are referred to as Italians. Their official language is Standard Italian, descendant of Tuscan dialect and a direct descendant of Latin. The word Italy is derived from the Homeric Aeolic word which means bull. Italy is subject to highly diverse weather conditions in autumn, winter, and spring. The country has the fifth-highest population density in Europe at 193 persons per square kilometer. Today, despite regional variations in the form of accents and vowel emphasis, Italian is fully comprehensible to most throughout the country. Thiene is a city in the province of Vicenza, in northern Italy, located approximately 75 kilometers west of Venice and 200 kilometers east of Milan. The city has an active and lively industrial sector, composed mainly of small-to-medium sized companies. Thiene is also considered one of the richest cities in Italy. The area of city is 19.7 per square kilometers. Population recoded in December 31, 2004 was 21,623 and density of 1,098 kilometers. Of ancient Roman origin, it was acquired by the Visconti of Padua in the Middle Ages. Later it was a free commune, and subsequently part of the Republic of Venice. The city have many good sights like, Villa Da Porto-Thiene, built in the 15th century according to late Venetian-Gothic style. The main facade is characterized by a central portico with mullioned windows flanked by towers with merlons. The interior has the Gothic Villa Thiene Cornaggia, a palace from the 15th century, Villa Beregan Cunico, the Baroque Duomo and church of San Vincenzo. Thiene is one of the most visited countries. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
