Rivoli




Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.
 
Rivoli is a municipality in the Province of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 14 kilometers west of Turin. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 50,694 and an area of 29.5 kilometers. The municipality of Rivoli contains the frazioni Cascine Vica, Tetti Neirotti, and Bruere.
 
Rivoli borders the municipalities including Turin, Pianezza, Caselette, Alpignano, Collegno, Rosta, Grugliasco, Villarbasse, Rivalta di Torino and Orbassano. It is famous for its castle, an unfinished Residence of the Royal House of Savoy which currently houses a museum of contemporary art. The Residences of the Royal House of Savoy is a World Heritage Site in the Province of Torino, Italy.
