Partinico

Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.

Inhabitants of Italy are referred to as Italians. Their official language is Standard Italian, descendant of Tuscan dialect and a direct descendant of Latin. The word Italy is derived from the Homeric Aeolic word which means bull. Italy is subject to highly diverse weather conditions in autumn, winter, and spring. The country has the fifth-highest population density in Europe at 193 persons per square kilometer. Today, despite regional variations in the form of accents and vowel emphasis, Italian is fully comprehensible to most throughout the country.

Partinico derives from Roman Parthenicum. The name is made up of Parthenos that refers to a temple erected in honour of the godness of hunting Diana and of Inico the original chief town of Sicanian reign. Partinico is 135 kilometers away from Agrigento, 170 kilometers from Caltanissetta, and 277 kilometers from Catania, 272 kilometers from Ragusa, and 353 kilometers from Siracusa, 70 kilometers from Trapani. The municipality has 27.381 inhabitants and its area covers 11.032 hectares for a density of population of 248 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on a plain area and is placed 180 metres above sea-level.

Partinico is a renowed agricultural centre and produces wine-grapes, vegetables and fruit cultivated in greenhouse, almonds and olives. Partinico is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
