Monserrato




Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.
 
Monserrato is a commune in the province of Cagliari in the Italian region of Sardinia, located at about 5 kilometers far away from the northeast part of Cagliari. The city coordinates 39 degrees 15 minutes towards the north and 9 degrees 9 minutes towards the east. As of 31st of December 2004, it had a population of 20,768 and an area of 6.4 square kilometers. Monserrato borders the municipalities of Cagliari, Quartu Sant'Elena, Quartucciu, Selargius. The city has an elevation of 2 meters from above sea level. The postal code of the city is 09042.
