Mondragone
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Mondragone is a commune in the province of Caserta in the Italian region of Campania, located about 45 kilometers northwest of Naples and about 40 kilometers west of Caserta. As of 31st of December 2004, it had a population of 26,558 people and an area of 54.4 square kilometers. Mondragone borders the municipalities of Cancello e Arnone, Castel Volturno, Falciano del Massico and Sessa Aurunca. Mondragone belongs to the province of Caserta and is 54 kilometers far away from Caserta that is the chief town of the homonymous province. Mondragone has a population of 24,155 inhabitants and a surface of 54.4 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 44403 inhabitants per square kilometers. It rises 10 meters above the sea level. The municipality of Mondragone had a population of 22,277 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 24,155 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 to 2001 a perceptual variation of 8.43 percent inhabitants. Mondragone is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
