Modugno
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Modugno is an Italian city, which is 93 kilometers away from Bari, the Chief Town of homonymous province where the municipality belongs. It has a population of 35,980 inhabitants. Its total area is 31.9 square kilometers, which shows a population density of 1.127 inhabitants per square kilometer. Modugno is 79 meters above the mean sea level. The municipality of Modugno had a population of 37.056 inhabitants according to the results of the national census of 1991. After the national census of 2001, the population was 35.980 inhabitants. It showed that during the years of 1991 to 2001, there was a percentual variation in 3 percent of inhabitants. The inhabitants are distributed in 11.490 families with an average of 3.13 people per family. The area of the municipality lies between 45 and 106 meters above sea level. There are 883 service firms employing 2,774 people, which is 14 percent of the total workforce. There are also 538 firms employing 2,152 people that are 11 percent of the total workforce. Modugno can also be described as the best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout Modugno.
