Marano di Napoli
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Marano di Napoli is a community in the Province of Naples in the Italian region Campania, located about 9 kilometers northwest of Naples. As of 31st December 2004, it had a population of 58,938 and an area of 15.5 square kilometers. The municipality of Marano di Napoli contains the frazioni San Rocco, San Marco, Torre Caracciolo, Castello Monteleone and Torre Piscicelli. Marano di Napoli borders the municipalities that include Mugnano di Napoli, Calvizzano, Quarto, Naples and Villaricca. After the Roman it was the time of the Bizantini, of the Normanni, the Svevi and the Angioini. In these centuries the original nuclei of the city rose where an ancient village from the name of Balisano or Vallesana, an other less rich and rigoglioso that was the true one and just country house of Marano and at last the country house of Turris Marano, close to Monteleone. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Marano di Napoli is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
