Francavilla al Mare
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Francevilla al Mare is a community and town in the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It belongs to the province of Chieti and is 15 kilometers far from Chieti that is the Chief Town of the homonymous province. It has a population of 22.883 inhabitants and a surface of 230 square kilometers therefore showing a population density of 994, 91 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 19 metres above the sea level. The City Hall is located in Piazza San Domenico. The municipality of Francavilla al Mare had a popolation of 21.675 inhabitants consequently to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 22.883 inhabitants, therefore showing during the years from 1991 to 2001 a variation of 5.57 percent inhabitants. The inhabitants are disseminated in 7,981 families with an average of 2.87 people per family. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Francevilla al Mare is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
