Cologno Monzese
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Cologno Monzese is a comune also know as municipality in the Province of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy. It is located about 45 kilometers north of Milan. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 48,365 and an area of 8.7 square kilometers. The municipality of Cologno Monzese contains the frazione also know as subdivision San Maurizio al Lambro. Cologno Monzese borders the following municipalities Brugherio, Sesto San Giovanni, Cernusco sul Naviglio, Milan, Vimodrone. It can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places. Cologno Monzese still possesses more ecclesiastical monuments than any other Italian city.
