Civitanova Marche




Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.
 
Civitanova Marche is a municipality in the Province of Macerata in the Italian region Marche, located about 40 kilometers southeast of Ancona and about 25 kilometers east of Macerata. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 39,545 and an area of 45.8 kilometers 2.
 
The municipality of Civitanova Marche contains the subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets Civitanova Alta, Fontespina, Santa Maria Apparente, Risorgimento, San Marone, and Maranello. Civitanova Marche borders the following municipalities are Montecosaro, Potenza Picena, Sant'Elpidio a Mare, and Porto Sant'Elpidio.
