Cisterna di Latina




Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.
 
Cisterna di Latina is a town and commune in the province of Latina, Latium, Italy. It provided the theatre of the Battle of Cisterna in January 1944. Cisterna di Latina  belongs to the province of Latina and is 19 kilometers far from Latina, is the Chief Town of the homonymous province. Cisterna di Latina has a population of 32.584 inhabitants and a surface of 142,8 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 228,18 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 77 meters above the sea level.
 
The municipality of Cisterna di Latina had a popolation of 31.463 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 32.584 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 to 2001 a percentual variation of 3,56 percent inhabitants. The inhabitants are distributed in 10.411 families with an average of 3,13 people per family. The territory of the municipality lies between 18 and 199 metres above sea level. The altimetric spawn is thus of 181 meters.
