Casoria




Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.
 
Casoria is a municipality in the Province of Naples in the Italian region Campania, located about 9 kilometers northeast of Naples. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 82,403 and an area of 12.0 kilometers 2. The municipality of Casoria contains the subdivision Arpino.
 
Casoria borders municipalities are Afragola, Arzano, Cardito, Casalnuovo di Napoli, Casavatore, Naples, Frattamaggiore, Volla. The municipality of Casoria had a population of 79.707 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 81.888 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 to 2001 a percentual variation of 2,74 percent inhabitants. The inhabitants are distributed in 22.832 families with an average of 3,59 people per family.
 
Casoria can also be described as the best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout Casoria. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
