Casarano
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula. Casarano is a community in the Italian province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. It is 41 kilometers away from Lecce, which is the town of the province where the municipality belongs. Its population was estimated at 20.579 inhabitants on the area of 3,808 square kilometers which shows a population density of 5,404 inhabitants per square kilometer. It is 107 meters above the mean sea level. The people of Casarano are distributed in 6.962 families with an average of 2.96 people per family.
