Belpasso
Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.
Belpasso is a municipality in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily. It is located about 150 kilometers southeast of Palermo and about 10 kilometers northwest of Catania. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of twenty one thousand eight hundred and forty one and an area of 164.4 square kilometers. The municipality of Belpasso contains the frazione Piano Tavola.
Belpasso borders the municipalities including Adrano, Biancavilla, Bronte, Camporotondo Etneo, Castiglione di Sicilia, Catania, Lentini, Maletto, Mascalucia, Motta Sant'Anastasia, Nicolosi, Paterno, Ragalna, Ramacca, Randazzo, San Pietro Clarenza, Sant'Alfio and Zafferana Etnea.
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Belpasso is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
