Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto

Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.

Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto is a town of about fifty thousand inhabitants in the north coast of Sicily, Italy, 40 kilometers from Messina towards Palermo. It belongs to the Province of Messina. Barcellona was founded in the 1600s during the Spanish dominance of the island, and was merged with Pozzo di Gotto in 1835. It is mostly famous as the place of birth of Emilio Fede, popular television anchorman. In the nearby zones there is Castroreale which is a small village from the 1200s and has a castle of Emperor Frederick II.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
