Ardea

Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.

Ardea is one of Italy’s most popular destinations, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced. It is an ancient town and commune in the province of Rome located at around 41degrees to the North 12 degrees to the East and 121 feet above the sea-level. It is almost 35 kilometers to the South of Rome and about 4 kilometers from the present day’s Mediterranean coast.

According to precious archeological findings, it can be affirmed that this area was first populated during the Volscians era during the 443 BC. Later, the siege of Volscians was broken by Roman troops under the leadership of Geganius. Thus, Ardea is recorded in the first Roman-Carthaginian treaty and was one of the thirty cities of the Latin League. Like the other centers, Ardea was also an important centre in archaic times, but suffered a steady decline after the middle Republican period. It was already reduced to a small hamlet in the first Imperial age.

Ardea shares some memorials and the hypotheses to decipher that include the recent excavations in the part of the acropolis occupied by the modern town that have brought to light remains of protohistoric huts with material that dates to the early iron age. Earlier occupation is attested by the discovery of ceramics from the Late Bronze Age. A considerable number of axes, hatchets, and fibulae in bronze have been found that belong to the 9th to 8th century B.C.

Presently, Ardea experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Italy. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
