Angri

Italy, officially the Italian Republic or Repubblica Italiana, is a Southern European country comprising of the Po River valley, the Italian Peninsula and the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. It is shaped like a boot and for this reason Italians commonly call it lo Stivale, the boot or, due to its prevalent peninsular geographical nature, la Penisola, the Peninsula.

Angri is one of Italy’s most popular destinations, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced. It is a town in the province of Salerno, Campania and is located at around 40 degrees to North and 14 degrees to the East. Angri lies among the crags of the Lattari Mountains and is crossed by some important arteries of communication.

Angri owes its origin to a nucleus inhabited by the Greeks of Bisanzio in 540 AD who destroyed the army of the Goths of King Teia. Documents preserved in the files of the Abbey of Cava dei Tirreni speak about Angri as an inhabited locality at the beginning of the 800s. After the proclamation of the Kingdom from Italy, the Comune went through a series of municipal struggles, and currently has a government that promotes initiatives in housebuilding, increasing the income of the population, and new systems of cultivation to best exploit the great fertility of the soil.

Angri saw remarkable industrial development from the beginning of the 1800s. Presently, it experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Italy. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
